Wallbangs and collaterals — Wiki

Shooting through walls, and through more than one player.

Shooting through walls

Some surfaces can be shot through: wooden shutters, doors and planks, fences and railings, crates, corrugated metal, hay bales, even tree crowns. The game sorts them into thin, normal and thick ones, and a bullet that goes through keeps part of its damage, depending on the gun. A bullet goes through one surface at most: behind a second, it does no damage at all. Everything else (stone, brick, concrete, the ground) stops bullets completely, apart from what the game gives no collision at all, such as grass and small debris, which bullets pass straight through.

The share of damage a bullet keeps. A kill through a wall earns the Wallbang medal. The Trench Gun can't shoot through anything: each of its pellets stops at the first surface it touches.

What each gun does through a surface

One body hit up close, through one surface, with the shots it takes to kill from full health. Further away the damage drops with the gun's falloff first. On the wallbang plans, hover a surface to see it for that one.

Where you can shoot through

Every map's wallbang plan, from the game's own collision data: each surface's outline seen from above, strongest for thin (most damage gets through) and faintest for thick. Upper floors are drawn on top of the ground floor, so check a surface's height on the map's page.

Collaterals

Only the Kar 98k, the Kar 98k Sniper, the M1 Garand and the Springfield can hit more than one player with a single bullet, and only when the bullet kills. A bullet that kills goes on to the next player behind, who takes the gun's full damage for their own distance, as if the first one weren't there: nothing is lost going through a body. It keeps going while each player it hits dies, up to five players with one bullet. A bullet that doesn't kill stops in that player. Walls on the way count as usual, one at most.

Killing two or more enemies with one bullet earns the Collateral medal.
